I am hoping you are reading this because you have bought my
book “Caravanning and Camping in Australia”. It was my first book, and this is
my first blog on my website.
Writing the book and getting it published was a bit of a
learning curve for me as I had no idea how it would work. But I did it, and it
is now up to you, the reader, to let me how it goes.
I have been travelling to various parts of Australia for
many years and worked in the caravan and camping industry for over 30 years.
So, with all this stuff in my head I just had to write it down.
From a very young age I have been involved in camping. I
have been on trips in cars, and station wagons, four wheel drive trucks and
Land Rovers. I have slept in tents and caravans and in the open. We even had a
bus for a while that was fitted out as a motor home.
My wife Linda enjoys this sort of travel as well, and we
also go on extended bush walks, for days at a time carrying everything we need
in back packs.
While there are some common sense rules to caravanning and
camping in Australia, there are such a variety of ways to enjoy being outdoors
in the Australian bush. It really depends on what you want to do, how far you
are going, and will it fit the budget.
Australia is a wonderful place to explore and in future blogs I want to cover in more detail some of the fascinating places I have been to and share personal experiences from my travels with friends and family. I will also be talking about our latest travels and what trips are coming up. And how and why I built our caravan (the one on the cover of my book), because I used to say I would never own a caravan
